Claims Submission Tips

The following must always be provided when submitting a claim in order to receive payment:

• Diagnosis (or reason for treatment)
• Procedure (service rendered)
• Fees for each service rendered
• The date the service was performed

If Your Claims Are Being Denied/Not Paid:
If your claims have been denied, please review the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) which will explain why the claim was not paid. In the bottom left corner under “Remark Codes” you will see a denial code, such as “PN004 – Need Diagnosis.” If the denial code is something we need, like a diagnosis or itemized statement, please submit a copy of the EOB with the requested information to ciebprovider@cigna.com.    

How To Expedite Claims Payments:
If you have received a Guarantee of Payment (GOP) you can avoid delays in payment by submitting the GOP with the claim. In order to obtain a GOP, simply call CIEB’s 24/7 International Service Center at 800.441.2668, TDD 800.558.3604, or 302.797.3100 (collect calls are accepted) or email ciebprovider@cigna.com. When submitting GOP requests, please include:

• Provider / Facility performing services
• Country of Facility
• Fax number, phone number, and/or email address for the provider / facility
• Recipient (specific individual receiving GOP)
• Patient name
• Group / Policyholder
• Diagnosis
• Procedure
• Dates services will be rendered
• Patient Identification Number
• Patient date of birth

Meet the CIGNADirect^SM Team: Jenna Federgreen, Provider Relations

Jenna Federgreen graduated from the University of Delaware in May, 2009 with a bachelor of science degree in Marketing, concentrating in International Business.  Jenna joined CIEB in March of this year as an intern on the Provider Relations team.  Since then, she has proven her commitment and dedication to CIEB’s valued health care professionals and facilities and was hired full-time in July. She now serves as a Global Health Solution Service Associate for Provider Relations. Her main role is to respond to any and all emails that providers send to the provider mailbox (ciebprovider@cigna.com).

Jenna works hard to ensure quick and accurate responses to any questions or concerns that CIEB providers may have. 

“I feel like I am the bridge between the providers and CIEB,” Jenna says. “The provider mailbox is a central location where providers from all over the world can go to have all types of inquiries answered.”

Please join CIEB as we welcome Jenna as a full time CIEB employee, dedicated to assisting our providers however she is able.

“I really enjoy working with people,” she says. “My job allows me to respond directly to provider or to accurately direct inquiries to the appropriate place.  And I make sure, from start to finish that our providers are being serviced.”

Farewell Norma Mendoza

Please join us in congratulating Norma in her new role for CIGNA Corporation. She has been a valued asset to CIEB’s Provider Contracting Team, CIGNADirect^SM, since 2006 and has helped many doctors and hospitals throughout her tenure with CIEB.  Since Norma came to CIGNADirect, the number of doctors and hospitals that contract with CIEB in Latin America, South America, and Mexico has nearly tripled.  In Norma’s absence, please direct any inquires involving contracting to Cindy Gatanis at cynthia.gatanis@cigna.com.  For all other inquires please contact ciebprovider@cigna.com.
