Meet the CIGNADirectSM Team: Norma Mendoza
Highlighted in this issue of CIEB Provider Focus is Norma Mendoza, who has been a member of CIEB's Provider Contracting Team, also known as CIGNADirectSM, since 2006. Norma's area of focus is CIEB's Spanish-speaking providers as she is a native Spanish-speaker.
'Our providers' needs are all different, of course, but they are comfortable with my handling of their requests, including a variety of issues they want me to escalate to an operational level,' Norma says.
'I feel like I've known some of them forever,' she says.
Since Norma came to CIGNADirect, the number of providers that contract with CIEB in Latin America, South America, and Mexico has nearly tripled.
'I'm very fortunate to be able to provide an important service to our providers, handling their phone and email requests for service and support,' she says. She also derives satisfaction from setting up new direct payment contracts, especially in under-served areas.
'The contracts benefit our members, who can enjoy cashless transactions in so many locations,' she says.
Norma feels CIEB goes above and beyond to establish and maintain good relationships with providers. CIEB relies on Norma and the CIGNADirect staff to be the 'voice' of the organization to providers.
Norma explains, 'When a provider enters a contract with us, they always get our full support, plus a group of insured, new patients. It's a win-win situation.'
Norma has been with CIEB for five years, beginning in the International Service Center as a customer service representative. She plans to take a class in Portuguese this summer, in order to communicate more fully with CIEB providers in Brazil.

New Claims Submission Procedure
A new procedure for claims submission went into effect on April 1, 2009. Contracted providers must now submit all claims with the new Global Health Solutions (GHS) Contracted Provider Claim Coversheet.
By attaching this form to all claim submissions, your claims will be directed to our dedicated team of Benefit Analysts who process all invoices received from contracted providers. This will allow them to better prioritize the claims. Should there be an error or omission on the submission, the claim will be immediately flagged to avoid excessive delays.
All invoices or claim submissions with the GHS Contracted Provider Claim Coversheet will be expedited through our process. And remember, there are three ways to submit your invoice with claims (and cover sheet):
