CIGNA International Introduces Health Risk Assessments for Expatriates

CIGNA International, a world leader in expatriate benefits, now offers employers an international health risk assessment (HRA) for their globally mobile workforce. The HRA is a preventive tool that helps identify expatriate employees’ health risks early before they can lead to illness and potentially jeopardize an employee’s assignment.

The assessment, part of the CIGNA International Expatriate Benefits (CIEB) standard health plan at no additional charge for fully insured customers, was developed by vielife, a London-based CIGNA company. Expatriates can complete the interactive, multilingual, multicultural health and wellness questionnaire online in about 20 minutes using CIEB’s secure Web site, www.CIGNAenvoy.com. The voluntary and confidential assessment can be localized and customized with questions relevant to specific geographic regions. By the end of 2010, it will be available in 20 languages.

“When people leave their homeland for an international assignment, they face many day-to-day challenges. Taking care of their health shouldn’t be one of them,” said Sonny Patel, CIEB’s senior director of global health solutions. “We offer a truly global solution that will help expatriates and their families better manage their health and maintain healthy lifestyles while on assignment.”

Using the appropriate questionnaire for their language and location, employees answer a series of questions about their health habits and lifestyle. Immediately upon completion, they receive an electronic report identifying their top health risks along with an evaluation of their health status and recommendations for improving their health and well-being.

“Completing a health assessment provides individuals with practical, appropriate and achievable recommendations in areas such as stress, nutrition, physical fitness, sleep and work/life balance. It’s an important resource in helping employers ensure their expatriate employees can fulfill their work assignments and enjoy life while away from home,” Patel said.
